Cookie Fu Questions -------------------------------------------------------- >>>GENERAL QUESTIONS:<<< Q: If you are playing and the other player has no dice left and all you have left is one die like a block, a throw, or a grab is the round over? A: If you only have 1 dice left (block, throw, or a grab ) and you opponenet is out of dice - then the round is pretty much over. Q: Could someone clarify the Refocus rule? A: To Refocus, you must have inititive AND you exchange 3 dice for ONE (1) chi. These dice do not need to have matching icons - any 3 dice will do. Q: The chinese characters on the boxes. What do they translate out to mean? A: They actually translate to "Fortune Cookie Warrior"! Q: What are these "game sheilds" (name varies) that I have been hearing about? How can I get one? A: The shields were part of a special promo that Blue Bokuto had with Wizards of the Coast stores. You can check your local WotC store, check eBay, or try the Yahoo group (link below). -------------------------------------------------------- >>>COMBAT QUESTIONS:<<< Q: Let's say Someone kicks me, and I grab it - Can I throw in a throw so I grab the kick and get a grab/throw? A: If you grab a kick - you MAY NOT use that grab in a grab/throw combo as it's already been earmarked for the kick. Q: During a round/turn, does blocking count as a user's action during that round? Example: Fighter A rolls 3 dice, Kick Kick Block Fighter B rolls 3 dice, Strike Grab Block Fighter A wins initiative. Fighter A attacks with a Kick. If Fighter B defends with a Grab, is that his only action for that portion of the round (which means it would again be Fighter A's turn to attack), or can he follow-up his Grab with a Strike? A: Question asked: During a round/turn, does blocking count as a user's action during that round? Answer is yes. Remember though, you are not limted to the number of dice you may use during a rund, but you may only use each dice once. So for your example he could follow up with a strike or any other dice (or combination of dice) if he wanted. Q: Can I play multiple atacks at once, such as lay out 2 kicks and a chi move at the same time? Also can you explain and perhaps give an example of the whole stacking throws and blocks thing I saw mentioned in a post? A: Sure can, throw out all you want, just keep in mind, if you play all your dice at once, that eliminates the bluff factor and it leaves you wide open for all of your opponents dice. The basic rule of thumb is that you must match your opponents grabs, and then add one block. For example, grab/grab/grab/grab/throw can only be blocked by a grab/grab/grab/grab/block. In addition, its only the extra throws that add more damage. The grab/throw combo is worth two points of damage, a grab/throw/throw is three points, but a grab/grab/throw is still only two. Q: We had a 4 player multi-player game last Saturday, and one guy kept rolling Grab/Grab/Throw and Grab/Throw/Throw - but no one would launch any kicks in his direction. A: you don't need any kicks to be thrown at you to use this combination. Actually this is a very good roll for that player: Grab/Grab/Throw = a tough grab to break out of that yeilds 2 points of damage. Grab/Throw/Throw = a normal grab to break out of, but yileds 3 points of damage! I repeat - you DON'T NEED kicks to be thrown at you in order to use a grab/throw combo. Rebuttal from Question asker: Well maybe I am missing something. To me, blocks defend against strikes - but block is not an offensive/damaging solo move. Grabs defend against kicks - but grab is not an offensive/damaging solo move. Throws are combo moves, and can only be used with blocks and/or grabs - but throw is not an offensive/damaging solo move. -------------------------------------------------------- >>>TIMING:<<< Q: My opponent hits me with a 350 degree kick for 2 HP of damage(which will kill me). Can I use the Chi die I have to heal 1 HP (Giving me 3 HP), in effect letting me live with 1 HP left? A: Yes, you may. "Only if you are out of options will then you get your cookie crushed." Q: Here's the scenario: Player 1 has 3 life left Player 2 has 1 life left Player 2 has just won the initiative and plays: 3 kicks and 1 punch Here's my question: Player 1 has a chi in their hand. Can they use that chi for a chi blast doing 1 point of damage, and essentially killing player 2? If so, both have done enough damage to kill each other, who wins? A: All damage is calculated at the end of the round. While player 1's chi blast would defeat player 2, player 2's 4 points of damage would certainlty defeat player 1 as well. Both would be defeated! Not so lucky! -------------------------------------------------------- >>>CHI MOVES:<<< Q: Ancient Golden Throw seems a little too powerful - has it been errata'd? A: Yes - AGT now reads as follows: 1 pt. Grab/Throw stackable combo. Q: Is Ancient Golden Throw an offensive AND a defensive move? A: No - since it states that the attack is equal to a grab and a throw, it is purely for offense. Q. Could you explain to me how Tasty Snack Toss is preformed, is it a grab and two throw combos or one or the other and are the two chie results you re-rolled ones you have already used or not and cant the one used to preform this move be uesd in that rerole and why whould you whant to have more throw results ? A: You put forth your two chi results. For that you get a grab/throw/throw combo. Then, you re-roll your two chi results. If you get any strikes or kicks, you get to add another throw to your combo for each strike or kick rolled. In other words, if you get a strike or kick, it "counts" as a throw. Also, a throw does not get counted as an extra throw, only strikes or kicks. Q: Can you only use one Chi move per match, per # of moves chosen? Or can you use a Chi move you have chosen over-and-over again. For example: if I use Ancient Golden Throw in round one, can I use it in round two? If so, then what is the point of a "Chi Blast"? A: The Chi moves you choose are good for the entire game and can be used multiple times. As for the Chi Blast, my take on it is that it was added to provide more strategy. Since the Chi Blast can ONNLY be negated by the Chi Block it can force an opponent to use their Chi to save HP instead of using it on a devastating special move later on. Q: Are you only able to select moves that you actually possess (i.e. pulled from cookies) - or can players use the moves they've seen documented? A: In official leage play, no - pulled/won cookies and normal chi moves only. In non-league play, people can use whatever house rules they enjoy playing with - it's like any other game. You bought it, have fun with it! Q: Batter Beat Down....are the added kicks ANY kicks or just the ones from the reroll? A: Just the re-roll. Q: Lets say I roll 3 chi, and use them to perform a Snap-Crack Block. Tt says to reroll three chi results and add any blocks to my block total. Do I reroll the 3 chi i used to perform the move, or do these have to be a different 3 chi? A: You reroll the dice you used to perform the chi move. Q: Citrus Fist....Must BOTH strikes be blocked to negate the next turn effect? Just one? Can you block just one? A: Both. You can block one, but the effect still happens. Q: I nail my opponent with a "350 Degree Kick" can he play one grab to counter it? Does he have to back it up with a chi dice too? Do I have to play all kicks before he plays any defenses? A: Yes he does need 1 grab to counter it with no chi needed; No you dont have to play all kicks if you want to you could just play 1 kick. (You can play as much you want if its ok to play it.) Q: Hi, how do you use a Grand Master move, how do you find out the Grand Master moves and where do you get them? A: Grand Master moves can be found in Grand Master cookies (there is one in approximately every 12th booster) for the initial set; those cookies are blue and full of blueberry goodness. There are 5 different GM moves. (Note: These moves are listed below in this FAQ.) -------------------------------------------------------- >>>ADVANCEMENT/RANKINGS:<<< Q: How does advancement in ranks work? Is it when you win 10 2 out of 3 games you move up in rank? Doesn't that make it unfair to the person fighting you who's lower in rank? I mean, you get more life, an extra dice, and an extra fu move. I'd hate to fight someone with a higher rank than me. A: In order to go up in rank you should be fighting those of equal rank. Otherwise, you could go around the countryside beating up mooks to become grandmaster! There has to be a challenge. I believe if you beat someone higher than you, you would received 2 victories as opposed to one. Additionally, if you are fighting an opponent lower than you, you would only receive half the victory points as they are a weaker level than you. Q: I've been looking over some of the League Dojo level advancment rules -- and I'm wondering what happens when 1 person is left at the starting level while everyone else advances to the "Mook" level. In order to keep from leaving the last person behind, can a Mook fight the beginner - and should the 2 dice Mook start at 3HP and the 1 die beginner start at 5HP (so that there is some chance to survive the extra-dice advantage). A: All fu fighters start with 3 dice at initiate level. No one starts at "mook" or "untrained". Those are there in preparation for the quick/dirty rpg and if player want to have a brawl against multiple opponents. Once again, in league play, everyone starts with 3 dice. -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- 2. Fu Fortunes Checklist/Rarity Information: -------------------------------------------------------- Howdy Fu Fighters, So many people have asked what is the total # of fortunes in the Cookie Fu base set. Here's a quick checklist to help you out. Ja Mata, Bryan Kowalski - Blue Kabuto Fu Fortunes Checklist (18 fortunes) Common |Buttery Block |Batter Beat Down |After Dinner Knockback |Crunchy Cookie Crash |Cornstarch Combo Uncommon |Cocoa Kick |Vanilla Taste Defense |Citrus Fist |Strawberry Slam |Curved Cookie Clutch Rare |Takeout Turnaround |Buddha's Cookie |Fortune Control Chase |Lucky #'s Kick |10min Crispy Crunch |"That Wasn't Chicken" Hurl |Crinkly Plastic Choke Hold |Greased Sheet Defense -------------------------------------------------------- RARITY OF DICE/COOKIES Q: I've only recently begun playing this most excellent game, I'd be grateful if anyone could tell me what chase dice are, thanks A: Chase dice are the elusive rare glow-in-the-dark dice that give you an extra reroll during your combat turn. The look very similar to rare dice, but have a more "waxy" type appearance and glow. Regarding the dice layout/commonality: There might be variations as the dice faces were assembled, but they were not purposeful. The other point I wanted to make was that while the layouts may be different, obviously, if you add one icon, you must remove another. But for a specific learned die, you will always find that if [icon 1] is duplicated, then [icon 2] will always be replaced. Likewise, if [icon 1] is on 3 sides, then always [icons 2 and 3] are missing. There's no difference as to the missing icons between the master and the grandmaster dice. There is no special "lefthanded" die variations amoungst the Fu dice. We have no control over the dice company's production of the fu dice as the images are somewhat random. If we made them be specific, it would take months instead of weeks to get them back! Breakdown: 17 dice, 18 fortunes Fortune Dice - 1 Common Fu Dice - 1 Learned Fu Dice - 5 (strike, kick, grab, throw, block) Master Fu Dice - 5 (strike, kick, grab, throw, block) Grandmaster Fu Dice - 5 (strike, kick, grab, throw, block) (Note: GM dice glow in the dark - this is what seperates the actual GM dice from the Master dice.) There are NO Learned, Master, nor Grandmaster Chi dice (meaning multiple chi icons on the die) as of yet. -------------------------------------------------------- 3.
