This adventure idea is
one that I myself have effectively used and had a great time creating and
running. One thing that you need
to do is to draw up a nice map. Make it look pretty and very functional.
When creating it, though, place about four to eight places of interest on
the map. Make sure that they are not too close to each other though. These
places of interest must stand out. You may even want to draw lines
connecting these areas in an order that you prefer. Make sure that before
you do this you PLAN IT OUT(and read ahead) so when you proceed to the
next step you don’t have problems. Now, tear the map up.
WAIT! There is a method to this madness: You want the starting location of
the adventure to be on one piece with a second area of interest on the
same piece. That way the people can get from point A to point B. (You will
give the players this piece of the map somehow: Part of a treasure, they
purchased it, stole it, are paid to discover it’s contents, etc.) At
point B there will be the next piece of the map that will take the
adventurers to point C, and so on. It’s like a treasure hunt. When the
players connect all pieces together there will be nothing missing. All
pieces should have an area of interest on them. Don’t tear too wildly. At every point of
interest make some unusual encounter or location. Some valid place or
event to tie into the map pieces. Use your imagination. Make the points of
interest encounters as long as you want to span several gaming sessions or
make them last a shorter period of time if necessary. This may take more time than you wanted, but hopefully there are enough adventure ideas on the NGG site to fill in any holes. It’s just an idea anyway! What did you expect? Good luck and HAVE FUN! Contributed By Nikademus |
